September 2011

The Ryhall development is progressing in line with the programme. As a part of our commitment to Considerate Constructors Scheme we have been consulting local residents and Parish Council about name for the new street. The suggestions included:

  • St Eabba's Close – Named after the cousin of St Tibba (currently a street name in Ryhall) who is a saint of the parish
  • Jubilee Close, Queen Elizabeth Close  - to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012
  • Ivatt Close – after the original land owner

The outcome will be decided in October.

September 2011

The work on Ryhall development is progressing well. The buildings have the roof put on and are watertight. We have also put in windows and doors and have completed plasterboarding and skimming of walls. Currently we are working on the mechanical and electrical first fix.

The site was visited by Considerate Constructor Scheme assessor. The aim of the scheme is to improve the image of construction industry. The Ryhall project achieved score of 34 which rates it as a “Very good site”. This means that Ryhall site is considerate to its neighbours and presents an image of the industry hat w can be proud of.

You can read below what local residents have said about our site:

"We have been impressed by the way work has been carried out. We have encountered very little noise and feel that matters have been organised in a professional manner.

At the start of the building programme we were shown around the site and our views were listened to and acted upon.

I hope the next set of neighbours are as good!"

August 2011

The project is in its initial stage with brick and block superstructure being currently constructed. Roof trusses will be going on soon so our neighbours can expect crane on site at the beginning of August.

Services
Water pipes are already installed up to the site boundary and other services will follow soon.

We have introduced temporary 30mph speed limit near the site. It minimises the risks at the site boundary, to pedestrians, motorists, operatives and the public. The neighbours of our site received a letter informing them about the start of construction work and contact details for Carter Homes as well as Considerate Constructors Scheme. Ryhall site is registered with the scheme and we would appreciate any feedback from residents regarding our performance as your neighbour.  We have distributed neighbourhood questionnaires which can be posted into a red Considerate Constructors Suggestion Box located on the hoarding at the site entrance. If you didn’t receive a questionnaire and would like to obtain a copy please contact site manager Shaun Allerton or send an email to mail@carterhomes.co.uk.

Future works
In August we will be constructing dorma windows and continuing with the external works. We plan to start plastering in September.
